These are "Showy Milkweed" blossoms. MilkWEED?! I was walking a trail by Utah Lake with some coworkers when I spotted these. I loved them and HAD to take some pictures. I don't know about you, but I think they're awesome!! I called it "the star flower" until one of the guys in the office (who went on the walk) who is a former horticulture major corrected me....Thanks Ben!

So these are essentially the same picture. Just goes to show what you can do with the right equipment and the know-how! I took these to prove a point to a friend of mine and ended up kinda' liking the pictures...If you look, you can see that the foremost flower is in focus in the first picture and the green pods are in focus in the second, while the flower is...not so much.

Baby Lily was born last summer. She is the cutest little thing on the planet--and I'm not just saying that because she's my niece. This was just me playing around taking pictures when she was about two weeks old. That's my sister with her in the second picture. I can't believe Lily's going to be a year old soon!! Time flies!!

Two of my favorite faces at a summertime BBQ I went to last year!! Maddie (the dog) was so much fun. She's a boxer mix, so I thought she was going to be a handful, but she was so well-behaved!! And little Emma was just a doll. She had a little princess complex for part of the day, but she's still cute as can be!!

Shooting live action is a ton of fun--I love capturing moments like that. It's especially cool for the subjects to see a freeze-frame of themselves in the moment! These are of Ray skating in his family's neighborhood in Florida. He used to skate a lot when he was younger and was actually really good at it--he was sponsored and everything. Now he just does it for fun. This day, he was skating with a little neighbor kid.

Pansies from the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival. I (unfortunately) went about a week or so before the tulips bloomed...but, as you can see, there were other flowers to snap! I have always loved pansies. My grandfather, who has always had quite the green thumb, always had them in his flower beds. He called them "monkey faces" if I remember correctly.

So here it is! Officially. Summit Images. I've decided to call it "Summit" because the definition for that word is "the highest point of attainment or aspiration". I always am and always will strive for excellence with my work. There is no way to capture the world's beauty with a camera that would make it equal to seeing it with your own eyes, but that is my goal so I will do my best.
Starting with my next post, I will post a new photo as often as possible!
