[Summit Images]

Welcome to Flower month!! I'm starting with the little flowers that grow right out in front of my house by the mailbox. Cute, sunny, happy little yellow flowers!

Since I have been here in Hawaii (a little over nine months now) I have wanted to take my camera with me on a walk around the neighborhood to take pictures of all of the flowers. There are so many different flowers!! On a five minute walk, I had almost two hundred pictures! After some scaling down, I still had too many for one post. So I decided that next month is FLOWER MONTH!! I have almost enough pictures for a new post/flower every day, so be sure to keep an eye on the blog!

I can't have a post without pictures, so here you go! While we (my mom, my son and I) were on our walk I stopped to take some pictures in front of a yard that, unbeknownst to me, had a guard dog. She scared the ever-living crap out of my son...poor kid.
He was so scared and I felt horrible for not paying enough attention to the yard to see that there was a dog there. This, my friends, is Cinnamon.
She apparently thought that even a seven month old child is a threat because she bolted to the fence and started ferociously barking at my poor stroller-bound baby. Luckily, there was a fence and no harm befell anyone...but poor Gabriel was pretty upset!

These are a few of the fruits that we see dangling, taunting us, on our walks around the neighborhood. Papayas, mangoes and pomelos. I've never had a pomelo until recently. They're like giant grapefruits, only not so bitter. We finally met the people who own the pomelo tree on a recent neighborhood stroll and they gave us a couple to take home and eat! As you can see, my mom was pretty excited...

I haven't been living up to my promise to post as often as possible (eek!). Sorry guys! Life has been crazy lately. That, combined with laziness = no blog posts.  :(  I'm working on a bunch of photos, though, so bear with me!! Here are a couple more random shots from Gamesfield Trail!

What a cute little cabin! It was hiding in the trees across the water, but obviously not hiding well enough because I FOUND IT!! I realize that this picture could use some serious editing, but I'm lazy and it's really not that bad "as-is"....at least that's my opinion...

These are "Showy Milkweed" blossoms. MilkWEED?! I was walking a trail by Utah Lake with some coworkers when I spotted these. I loved them and HAD to take some pictures. I don't know about you, but I think they're awesome!! I called it "the star flower" until one of the guys in the office (who went on the walk) who is a former horticulture major corrected me....Thanks Ben!

So these are essentially the same picture. Just goes to show what you can do with the right equipment and the know-how! I took these to prove a point to a friend of mine and ended up kinda' liking the pictures...If you look, you can see that the foremost flower is in focus in the first picture and the green pods are in focus in the second, while the flower is...not so much.
